introduction

My name is Jim Funnell and I’m an Anglo-French jazz pianist/composer/educator with a passion for musics and cultures from all over the world. As a bandleader, I've produced quite a few albums and singles with Word Out (my post-bop/ethno jazz fusion band) and AfuriKo (African infused jazz duo with Akiko Horii). I’ve spent a good amount of time in both France and the UK, as well as in the US where I studied (at Berklee College of Music in Boston) and lived for several years (mostly in Queens, New York).
